Clearing your Mental Clutter

elevateyw

Have you ever thought of yourself as a mental hoarder? Many of us do not realize that we have many feelings and emotions stacked up in our minds that will hinder our ability to live more balanced and authentically. It is like having furniture and stuff stacked up in a room, making it difficult to maneuver around.

It's not just our houses or workspaces– often, our minds are cluttered, too! Let's treat our thoughts and words carefully – let's choose them as we would pick out vegetables in the market, discarding the ones that are stale or bruised and selecting instead ones that are fresh and fragrant and full of life. Let's take what we need; for now, we can always go back for more.

If we don't make room for all our emotions, we will eventually run out of space, and this can make us feel very uncomfortable. The more intense our feelings and emotions are, the more often we need to clean the house. Usually, it will depend on what is going on in your life, determining how cluttered your mind feels and how often you need to clear your mind.

Do you know how it feels just after you clean your house? You feel more organized and rejuvenated that everything is in its place, and the clutter is gone. You feel like you have the freedom to do other things. Well, this same feeling can happen to your mind. Take a moment daily to do a declutter check for your mind. Take a moment to just be silent in your thoughts. If you do, you will be more present at the moment and feel less cluttered.

"When thought is too weak to be simply expressed, it is a clear proof that it should be rejected."
